5 great online slots to help you turn a casino bonus into cash

1429-Uncharted-Seas

Almost all online casinos offer a nice welcome bonus on your first deposit. This welcome bonus can even double or triple your initial amount, which can increase the bonus to hundreds of $€.

That’s the good news. However, every online casino welcome bonus comes with playthrough requirements and bonus conditions.

These wagering conditions stipulate that the bonus must be played through several times before it can be converted into real money. And that’s not always easy. Often you run out of money before you have met that requirement. And that’s a shame, because of course the best part, in the end, is the sweet victory of can simply cashing out a welcome bonus.

Luckily, there are some tricks you can use to maximise your chances of unlocking a bonus. Slot machines contribute 100% to playing through a bonus. So that’s what we’re going to focus on. The challenge we have is to play slot machines where we:

  • maximise our playtime -> a high payout rate
  • minimise our losses -> low to medium variance
  • don’t break the bonus rules -> pay attention to the bonus conditions

In other words: we are looking for slot machines with a low to medium variance and a high payout rate. And we must make sure we adhere to the bonus game rules (which vary from one online casino to another).

After all, the one thing we don’t want to happen is for the online casino to deny us of our hard-earned cash, just because we broke one stupid bonus rule.

Five slots that are perfect for unlocking a casino bonus

As we concluded earlier, we are looking for slot machines with a low to medium variance and a high payout rate. In other words, we are looking for online slots that are not too volatile and preferably have a theoretical payout percentage of around 96.5% or more.

And it would also be nice if it was a bit of a fun slot – no reason not to mix business with pleasure.

Which are the five best slots to unlock a casino bonus?

We have scoured hundreds of online slots and have come up with the following list of suitable slots to play through a welcome bonus. These are all slots with a low to medium variance and a high payout rate.

1429-uncharted-seas-200x200-160x1601. 1429 Uncharted Seas (Thunderkick)

In the first place of this top 5 is a title by the Swedish game provider Thunderkick. 1429 Uncharted Seas has an excellent payout rate of 98.6% and has low to medium variance. These two factors make 1429 Uncharted Seas the most suitable slot machine to unlock a casino bonus.

The Seafarer/Explorer theme is beautifully worked out, and there is an exciting free spin bonus where expanding wilds can occur on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels for vast payouts. Recommended!

You can play the 1429 Uncharted Seas slot at Slots Million with a 100% bonus up to $€ 100 plus 100 free spins.

kings-of-chicago 2. Kings of Chicago (Netent)

Kings of Chicago is not your typical online slot, but it is very suitable to unlock a welcome bonus. The payout rate is very high: 97.8%. Besides, the variance of Kings of Chicago is very low. This game is a cross-over between video poker and a video slot.

There are only 5 paylines, and the intention is to spin winning poker combinations. There are jokers (which double your wins) and a free spin bonus.

You can play Kings of Chicago at LeoVegas with a 200% bonus up to $€200 and 300 free spins

jimi-hendrix3. Jimi Hendrix (Netent)

Jimi Hendrix is, in our opinion, one of the best Netent slots and part of the already famous Netent Rocks trilogy (along with Motorhead and Guns N’ Roses).

Jimi Hendrix is packed with features and bonuses and has a medium variance. Add to that a very lovely payout rate of 96.9%, and you have an excellent slot machine to unlock a welcome bonus.

You can play the groovy Jimi Hendrix slot at Casumo with a 100% bonus up to $€300 plus 20 free spins.

Esqueleto-Explosivo-thunderkick4. Esqueleto Explosivo (Thunderkick)

The utterly absurd online slot Esqueleto Explosivo is one of the most popular Thunderkick slots. This low variance slot takes you to a Mexican village square where a deceased Mariachi band plays the lead role. There are avalanche symbols in the form of skulls and wilds and progressive multipliers up to 32 x.

Esqueleto Explosivo is a super fun slot, and due to its high payout rate of 97.6% and entertaining gameplay, it is also very suitable to bypass those annoying wagering conditions. Let’s turn that bonus money into hard cash, shall we?

You can play the Esqueleto Explosivo slot at Casumo with a 100% bonus up to $€300 plus 20 free spins.

retro-extreme-heat-logo-1605. Retro Reels – Extreme Heat (Microgaming)

Retro Reels – Extreme Heat is a classic-style video slot with 5 reels and 30 paylines. Although the variance of Retro Reels is a bit higher than the rest of the slots on this page, it is certainly suitable for unlocking the casino bonus. The very high payout rate of 97.5% positively contributes to this.

The bonus in this game consists of up to 20 free spins with a multiplier of 2 x. The exciting respin feature makes it possible for you to hold reels in place to increase your chances of creating winning combinations.

You can find the Retro Reels – Extreme Heat slot at Casumo where you will get a 100% bonus up to $€300 plus 20 free spins.

Which slots are not suited for unlocking a casino bonus?

The following types of slots are not suitable to unlock a welcome bonus.

  • Progressive jackpot slots – the payout rate is too low due to a contribution to the jackpot
  • Most online casinos do not allow progressive slots to be played with bonus money
  • High variance slots – the risk of running out of money is too high
  • Slots with a payout ratio that is too low (less than 96%)

Don’t play high variance slots with bonus money – you will often run out of funds before you meet wagering requirements

What else should you pay attention to when you unlock a bonus?

There are some things you should be aware of before attempting to unlock a welcome bonus.

  • Look at the wagering requirements: try to find a wagering requirement that is 40 x the bonus or less
  • Do not play slots that are excluded from bonus money
  • Do not bet more than allowed: with bonus money, there is often a maximum bet of $€5 – $€7.50 per spin
  • Check your progress regularly: see if you have already met the playthrough conditions.
  • ALWAYS read the bonus requirements carefully before you start playing with bonus money!

Bring Oktoberfest to your home with these slots!

Oktoberfest-Bier-Haus-Slot-intro

October is always a somewhat peculiar month. The summer is already far behind us; the winter is looming. But that nice and oh so cosy December month is still so far away.

Fortunately, in October there are always those gigantic and jolly Oktoberfesten, which are held in Bavaria, Germany.

These festivities are held annually and last between 16 and 18 days. They are packed with music, food, and of course: lots of beer! It all leads to a friendly, joyful atmosphere that is unique to the world.

Some fun facts about the Oktoberfesten:

  • The festival is celebrated from mid-September to the beginning of October.
  • There is a fairground with 14 huge tents.
  • The largest tent can accommodate 10,000 people
  • In 2 of the 14 tents, only wine is served.
  • Only a select five beers (brewed in Munich) may be served – legally stipulated!
  • Between 6.5 and 7 million litres of beer are served each year.

More and more non-Germans make the annual trip to Munich to enjoy the atmosphere, the hospitality and of course: the beer.

Not able to join the festival? Have your own Oktoberfest with these video slots

For those who stay at home, there is a nice consolation. The Oktoberfest has inspired several cool online video slots.

This way you can still enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful folk festival and, at the same time, perhaps also bank some cash!

Bier House (WMS)

Oktoberfest-bier-Haus-video-slot

Bier Haus is an incredibly entertaining WMS video slot and was one of the first to embrace the Oktoberfest theme. This slot has 40 paylines, a jolly Gunther and catchy music. However the blond Heidi takes centre stage in this slot machine: she provides the free spins – up to 80 can be won.

But that’s not all: if you activate the bonus with a purple Heidi (with the beer mug), then this Heidi becomes a sticky wild.

Bier Haus is the first Oktoberfest slot and as far as we’re concerned absolutely the best. Wunderbar!

You can play the Bier Haus slot at Cashmio a friendly online casino, with a superb selection of slots.

The lesser know games developer Genesis also created a great Oktoberfest video slot. This slot has 25 paylines, a payout percentage of almost 96% and no less than four different bonuses:

  • The Barrel Wild bonus: stacked wilds
  • The Bier Drinking Feature: empty the pods of beer and reveal prices or additional symbols.
  • Wild Pig Racing: Race the piglets that leave wilds behind.
  • Bier Stein Free Spin: A free spins bonus with extra multipliers up to 15x.

Oktoberfest (Nolimit City)

A video slot called Oktoberfest can only be about one thing: the Oktoberfest beer festival!

Nolimit City’s Oktoberfest is one of their first slots, and even then they showed what they bring to the table.

Besides a lot of humour and a lot of beer, Oktoberfest has a lot more to offer.

Think of free spins, stacked wilds and super big wins, which have been given the appropriate name “Groß Gewinn”.

You can play Nolimit City slots and the cheerful Oktoberfest slot at SlotsMillion a very reliable online casino, with a massive selection of slots.

Freibier (Novomatic)

Oktoberfest-Freibier-novomatic-slot-bonus-big-win

Novomatic’s Freibier video slot is a high variance game, and also completely dedicated to those beautiful Oktoberfesten. The beer flows abundantly, and the tables are set with thick hams and pretzels.

If you hit three or more scattered beer casks you win the free spins bonus and up to 20 free spins with extra wilds. And the symbol for these wilds? You guessed it: beer.

You can play the Freibier slot at Slots Million with a 100% bonus.

The truth about… Evolution Gaming

immersive-roulette-evolution-gaming

Evolution Gaming is the biggest provider of live casino games at online casinos.

evolutiongaming-150x50Not only do they have the most extensive range of games; they also have the largest player base. Evolution Gaming lives up to its name: it is known as the leading innovator in the field of live casino games.

Offering live casino games allows online casinos to bring something entirely new for the table: a vibrant casino experience, with real live dealers and live images. This brings the atmosphere of a land-based casino very close and allows players to play real live versions of their favourite table game online.

A major concern of many players who were comfortable playing at a real casino was that they didn’t trust the Random Number Generator of the automated software version. The presence of real dealers and croupiers, real tables and real cards/balls quickly dissolved this suspicion in the live version.

Confidence in the games of Evolution Gaming has grown so much over the years, in 2018 they even successfully combined Live Roulette with the Random Number Generator in the game Lightning Roulette. In this popular roulette variant, the computer selects up to 5 extra numbers every spin, which pay out more than usual – up to 500 x.

A year before, they managed to improve the image of Money Wheel by introducing Live Dream Catcher, a great live casino game with a hyperactive show host. At the well-respected G2E fair in Las Vegas, Live Dream Catcher won the Digital Product of the Year award.

From runner up to the absolute market leader

Evolution Gaming was founded in 2006 and went live with Live Roulette in 2007, including the online casinos Gala Coral, PartyGaming and William Hill. In the following years, numerous new games were released, including Live Baccarat, Live Casino Hold’em, Live Blackjack and Live Caribbean Stud Poker.

With groundbreaking games like Lightning Roulette,  Live Dream Catcher, Deal or No Deal Live, Lightning Dice and Monopoly Live, the status of Evolution Gaming grew to the stars and beyond.

2010 was an important year: the so-called “Dedicated Tables” were introduced. These live casino tables fully integrate the look and feel of the respective online casino A perfect selling point for casino brands that want to stand out. Think, for example of a dedicated LeoVegas table, including logos and the typical LeoVegas colours.

At this moment over 370 online casinos offer the games of Evolution Gaming, including big names like Betsson, Mr Play Casino, LeoVegas, Cashmio, Spinia and Unibet.

In the Latvian capital Riga, you will find a large live casino studio. In this live casino studio, there are over 100 gaming tables that serve these online casinos. They will also broadcast and play live from land-based casinos such as the prestigious Hippodrome Casino in London (UK) or the Dragonara Casino in Murcia (Malta).

In short: what Netent means for online slots, Evolution Gaming means for live casino software.

What makes Evolution Gaming so successful?

The massive success of Evolution Gaming did not just happen overnight. To get to the top is difficult enough, to stay there is a different challenge, you will have to bring a set of distinctive capabilities to the table.

We think there are four reasons why the live casino games of Evolution Gaming are so popular:

  • The range of games available is huge: almost every table game is listed.
  • The technology is state-of-the-art: HD/high-resolution images, smooth and stable streams
  • Exceptional user-friendliness: players can adopt the entire experience according to their wishes
  • Continuous innovation: there is a strong internal drive to innovate and improve

Evolution Gaming is continuously working on the development of new concepts and also invests a lot in the improvement of the current products.

Players have a lot of freedom to customise the games to their preferences. From playing specific fixed patterns to setting camera angles, the options are almost limitless. The amount of extra game information available to players is also second to none; like your past results or the stats of your neighbour at the table, are available.

Who are the competitors of Evolution Gaming?

Evolution Gaming is currently unrivalled in the live casino segment. The only companies that can put up some fight are Netent Live and Playtech Live.

In addition, other, smaller developers try to take a piece of Live Casino Games pie.

Microgaming tried and hopelessly failed with Live Playboy Casino. Nowadays, they are nowhere to be found, and Microgaming seems to focus on creating online slots again.

Playtech offers live casino games for its casinos, but compared to the advanced technology and user-friendliness of the Evolution Gaming software, they are a bit lacking.

Pragmatic Play only started with a live casino product in May 2019, and it’s still early days, hence their modest market share in the live casino games segment. However, Pragmatic Play is a significant player in the field of video slots and has experienced huge growth in recent years.  They are perfectly capable of understanding what a player wants in a live casino and have a firm financial basis. A competitor that will undoubtedly be closely watched by Evolution Gaming. The live casino games of Pragmatic Play can be played at Slots Million.

Ezugi is the last actor in the live casino domain worth mentioning. This relatively small provider offers quality live casino products and focuses on the lucrative Asian and US markets. Ezugi is also working with major European brands such as LeoVegas and Unibet.

With Evolution Gaming’s Lightning Roulette, can win you up to 500 x your bet.

Which live casino games can you play with Evolution Gaming?

The total range of Evolution Gaming’s live casino games is enormous. Evolution Gaming offers a live casino variant of all popular table games. Besides, the really big games such as Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat have different versions as well.

Also, the offer varies from one online casino to another. An easy rule is, the larger the online casino, the more extensive the range of games. If you want to play live casino games, it’s smart to choose a reliable online casino with a broad offering of games, like Casumo or Wishmaker.

Live Roulette

Live Roulette uses a real game table, complete with a real roulette wheel and real balls. The dealer is in charge of the game and is also ready to answer questions or to have a chat. You can communicate with the dealer via the live chat.

Evolution Gaming offers many different types of live roulette.

There are also roulette tables that are offered in the language of the country where the game is played. There are German, Danish, Swedish and UK-based roulette versions. In this last one, the dealers address you with a real “posh” British accent.

European roulette

European Roulette is the most popular roulette variant and has 1 zero and a house edge of only 2,7%. At Evolution Gaming, you play European Roulette starting at $€ 0,50 per spin. Stakes can go up to as high as $€ 5,000 per spin.

French Roulette la Partage

Strangely enough, French Roulette with the La Partage rule is NOT the most commonly played Roulette variant, even though the house edge is the lowest. With this variant, if you play the single bets (red/black, even/even, high/low) and the ball drops in the 0 pocket, half of your bet will be returned.

American Live Roulette

Experienced roulette players know that they should avoid this variant at all times due to the increased house edge of 5.26%. The extra high house edge is caused by the two ‘zeroes’ (0,00) in the game. Despite these negative rules, there are still players who prefer American Roulette to European or French Roulette.

For us, American Roulette is simply one of the roulette types you should avoid at all costs.

Immersive roulette

This variant was introduced in 2014 and was an instant success. The quality of the video of Immersive Roulette is genuinely phenomenal. There are HD stream of 200 frames per second, slow-motion replays and special cameras that monitor the ball at close range. Every Roulette fanatic must have experienced Immersive Roulette at least once in his life.

Speed Live Roulette

Is regular roulette a little bit too slow for your taste? Then Speed Roulette was created especially for you. This Roulette version is twice as fast as the standard variants of Roulette. There are only 25 seconds between each spin, which means you’ve got to get your bet in on time! You play Speed Roulette with bets between $€ 0.50 and $€ 5,000 per spin.

Lightning Roulette

Lightning Roulette was introduced in 2018 and managed to attract an instant buzz. In Lightning Roulette, the so-called Lightning Strikes are active before each turn (after the bets have been placed). A Random Number Generator selects between 1 and 5 special numbers. The payouts on these numbers are significantly higher than with regular roulette: between 50 x and 500 x the bet. That’s what makes this game so exciting.

The payouts on the other numbers have of course been adjusted: a single number where no Lightning Strike is active, pays out 30 to 1, instead of the regular 35 to 1.

Dual Play Roulette

As a player of Dual Play Roulette, you can play with a game table in a real casino. So, you’re playing live at a table with real players from a land-based casino. The most famous casino where a Dual Play Roulette table is located is the Dragonara Casino on the island of Malta.

Double Ball Roulette

As the name suggests, at Double Ball Roulette, you play with two balls instead of one. The main attraction of this variant is the maximum payout of 1,300 x your bet. Well, then both balls must drop on a number you choose.

Auto Roulette

Auto Roulette is a bit odd – there’s no croupier involved, and the game is played on an automated table, based on a Random Number Generator.

The big difference with a typical automated table is that you play with other players at the same time. Besides, Auto Roulette offers a lot of additional information to the player: what the hot numbers are, which sectors have dropped the most and what the hit percentage of specific bets is. The bet can be between $€ 0.10 and $€ 500.

live-blackjack-evolution-gaming

Live Blackjack

Blackjack is the most popular table game after roulette. The very low house edge and the fact that Blackjack is one of the few games where you, as a player, can influence the course of the game, explain this popularity. If you play the perfect optimal Blackjack strategy, the house edge of the casino is less than 0.50%. Unfortunately, there are still many players who do not use the optimal strategy, and that makes that game also interesting for online casinos.

How does live Blackjack work?

Live casino Blackjack is identical to playing blackjack at a land-based casino.

You sit at a blackjack table with seven spots (boxes) and the dealer deals each player, and himself two cards. The cards of the players are shown, of a dealer you only see one card.

After that, the beautiful game of buying, splitting, doubling and passing, for which Blackjack is so popular, begins.

You can play live Blackjack starting with $€ 5 per game and up to $€ 2,500 per game. These limits may vary from one casino to another, although we never see lower bet limits than this $€ 5 on regular Blackjack.

Bet behind

Evolution Gaming has developed several additional options that online casinos can use. There is the Bet Behind option, where you can bet on other players. You can’t interfere with the way the player plays. That’s a faux-pass anyway, even if you play with your own box.

Fortunately, you can see how each player has performed in recent times, although we do advise you to observe the choices made by the player as well. The player with the most winning hands doesn’t have to be the best Blackjack player, no matter how contradictory that sounds.

Side Bets

There are also games with side bets, where you can make an extra bet and get extra payouts for certain combinations. These side bets always have a high house edge and should be avoided. Examples of side bets are Perfect Pairs and 21 + 3.

VIP Blackjack

VIP Blackjack are tables for the real high betting players. The minimum bet starts at $€ 250 per box and goes up to thousands of $€ per box. The atmosphere at VIP Blackjack is usually more formal.

Blackjack Party: Lots of fun!

For the partygoers among us, there is the Blackjack Party variant. Exuberant dealers, low minimum bets and a festive vibe will ensure a lot of playing fun. Two of them are at the table, and they do their best to ensure that players have a good time.

These tables are mainly intended for a younger audience, where the casino aims for a flow to tables with higher bets. The rules of the game are unexpectedly good, in land-based casinos, these kinds of party pits often have unfavourable game rules.

live-dream-catcher-evolution-gaming

Live Dream Catcher

In 2017, Evolution Gaming released a very interesting Live Dream Catcher. This game is also known as Money Wheel or Big Six in the casinos of Las Vegas. We didn’t expect Live Dream Catcher to catch on so well. In real casinos we sometimes see a lost newcomer standing by the wheel, but it’s never really busy. Despite the simple premise of the game, Dream Catcher is a lot of fun to play.

The flashy show presentation, simple rules, low minimum bets and double multipliers of 7 x on the wheel will be the main reason for this success.

It shows once again that Evolution Gaming is willing to take risks. And that with a well planned, excellent performance, you can also make a somewhat dull casino game very exciting for a large number of people.

monopoly-live-logo-evolution-gaming-bonus-win

Monopoly Live

Monopoly Live is an entertaining hybrid of the classic Monopoly board game and Dream Catcher.

You can bet on the bonus spaces on the wheel. And if you’re lucky enough to see them drop, you’ll have a great Monopoly adventure ahead of you. You are taken to a large Monopoly board where you can play dice and try to land on the most expensive streets. Throw a double, and you can do it again. Try to avoid the IRS and the prison!

dragon-tiger-baccarat-van-evolution-gaming

Live Baccarat

While Live Baccarat was traditionally very popular in Asia, this card game is increasingly being played in Europe as well. To meet this growing demand, Evolution Gaming has released several variants of Baccarat.

Multi-camera Baccarat

Multi-camera Baccarat is an advanced version of Live Baccarat. More cameras, close up shots and high-quality images.

Speed Baccarat

Some players (including ourselves) like a little more speed in the game. Speed Baccarat has been developed, especially for these players. One round of Speed Baccarat takes about 20 seconds less than a regular round of Baccarat.

Baccarat Squeeze

Baccarat Squeeze and Baccarat Squeeze Control mainly focus on how the cards are laid face up. If there’s been more playing on Banco, then the many cameras ensure increased attention for the Banco cards. If the players’ preference is for Punto, the focus also shifts to these cards. In the Squeeze Control variant, the player himself gives the order to unfold the cards. A small but essential nuance for many players.

Side Bets

At Baccarat too, Evolution Gaming allows you to play with side bets. With the Pairs Side Bet, you bet extra money on the appearance of a pair for the Punto or the Banco. If a pair (two cards of the same value) does drop in this spot (the Player or the Banker), you win the side bet.

In the perfect pairs, you win the side bet if two identical cards are dealt with both the player and the banker. This bet pays 25-1. If the first four cards are identical, you even win 200 x your bet.

Dragon Tiger

Dragon Tiger is a simplified version of Baccarat, where both the player and the Dragon can place their bets on the Dragon or Tiger. These bets have a house edge of 3.73%. Betting on a game of draw is also possible, only then the house edge rises to over 32!

evolution-gaming-poker

Live Poker

Evolution Gaming has also released several table versions of poker. These are live versions of poker games you play against a live dealer.

Caribbean Stud Poker

Caribbean Stud Poker is also known as Multi Poker. With five cards of his own and four cards in the middle, the player tries to beat the bank with a better combination. First, one card is turned open in the middle. The player must now decide whether to pass (and lose the bet) or continue (double the bet).

There are side bets that pay extra for specific combinations. But you can also play for the progressive jackpot. This will be paid if you have a Royal Flush.

Casino Hold Em

Every poker player has played Texas Hold Em one time. The casino variant is called Casino Hold Em. The rules of the game are short: five cards are dealt in the middle of the table. Both the player and the dealer receive two cards. Those with the best combination, win the game. You can choose to play the Jumbo 7 Jackpot side bet. Do you get a 7 Card Straight Flush? This will then award you the progressive Jumbo 7 Jackpot, which can go up to several million.

Other types of Live Poker are Three Card Poker and Ultimate Texas Hold Em.

side-bet-city-evolution-gaming-review

Side Bet City

Side Bet City is a rather strange Live Casino game by Evolution Gaming. You have four betting options where you bet on side bets on the outcome of three, five or seven cards.

By making poker combinations (a straight, 3-of-a-kind, royal flush, etc.), you can create winning combinations. The maximum profit is 1,000 times the bet. That’s what you win when you win a Royal Flush with a 5 Card Hand.

You can also place money on the bet that no winning side bet will drop on any of the hands. This bet is called the All Lose bet.

In terms of theme and atmosphere, Side Bet City is a bit of a mess and the house edge, entirely in Side Bet style, is very high.

This is not the most attractive game of Evolution Gaming.

super-sic-bo-evolution-gaming-review-3

Dice Games

Evolution Gaming has also released several games for fans of live dice games.

Super Sic Bo is a live version of the Sic Bo dice game. However, this is a variant that can win up to 1,000 times your bet.

Lightning Dice is a simple dice game in which you only have to predict the total number of dice to be thrown in a throw of 3 dice. Does that sound a little boring? Hell no! Here, too, Lightning Strikes can drop, which can give winning payouts huge boosts, again up to 1,000 times the total bet.

Casinos with Evolution Gaming games

10 incredibly useful tips on how to unlock an online casino bonus

Casino players can get an advantage when playing at an online casino.how-to-unlock-the-online-casino-bonus-1-stacked-euros

When you create an account as a new player, you can get your hands on hundreds in free casino money.

Also, you are often gifted a large number of free spins on a slot machine as well. A huge advantage over land-based casinos, pubs or slots parlours, where you don’t get these kinds of bonuses.

However, there is one drawback to a casino bonus: in most cases, you cannot get the casino bonus paid out immediately.

For a casino bonus to be paid out, you must first convert it into real money.

And you do that by betting the bonus several times. This phenomenon is often called the wagering requirement. Additionally, there are several other things you need to take into consideration when you want to unlock a casino bonus.

Best ways to unlock a casino bonus

To prevent everyone and their dog from receiving a bonus and having it paid out immediately, the online casino has drawn up these rules. If they didn’t, then any online casino that gives away a free casino bonus would be bankrupt within a few days.

And an online casino is in the business of making money, not losing money, whether we like it, or not.

A casino bonus is a little extra for the player. You can benefit from it, but the casino doesn’t just give it away as a gift. Think of it as a cat and mouse game between the player and the casino. The mouse (the player) tries to get away with the cheese (the casino bonus), the cat (the online casino) tries to prevent this fairly.

The bonus rules are nothing more than the rules of the game between the player and the casino. Although unlocking a casino bonus may sound tricky, it is not that bad.

You can already give yourself an advantage by looking closely at the requirements and making the right choices based on that information.

How to improve your success rate in unlocking an online casino bonus?

We’ll give you some tips on what to look out for when unlocking a casino bonus. By applying these tips, you can be sure that you’re playing a casino bonus quickly and securely with the best chance of converting the casino bonus into real money.

Bonus Tip 1: take the maximum amount of bonus on offer

You only claim a casino welcome bonus once. So, take a good look at how much the maximum bonus is and use it. Of course, it all has to fit within your budget.

Bonus Tip 2: compare wagering requirements

Lots of players forget to look at the different wagering requirements that online casinos enforce on a welcome before making their first deposit.

This is a huge shame, as there are significant differences between online casinos and their bonus terms.

For example, let’s compare two online casino bonuses:

  • Casino A offers a 100% welcome bonus up to $€100 with a 30 x times (bonus + deposit) wagering requirement
  • Casino B offers a 100% welcome bonus up to $€100 with a 35 x times (bonus) wagering requirement

If you take a bonus of $€ 100 at Casino A with a playing requirement of 30 x the bonus + your deposit, then you have to wager 30 (100+100) = $€ 6,000 before the bonus becomes available.

If you take a $€ 100 bonus at Casino B with a playing requirement of 35 x the bonus, you only have to wager 35 x 100 = $€ 3.500 before the bonus becomes available.

Both casinos give $€100 bonus to the player, and the starting balance is the same at both casinos ($€ 200). However, The wagering for that same deposit amount is $€ 6,000 at Casino A and only $€ 3,500 at Casino B.

Which casino would you choose?

Only a fool would choose Casino A.

The lower the wagering requirement, the easier it is to unlock the bonus.

Bonus Tip 3: pay attention to which games are allowed

Not every game contributes equally to the fulfilment of the requirements to get your bonus paid out. Table games often contribute only 10% or even nothing.

Some slots only contribute 75% or 50%, and in many online casinos, you can’t even play certain slots with bonus money at all. These slots include progressive jackpot slots, slot machines with a bonus you can save up.

Bonus Tip 4: want to play live casino games with bonus money? Forget it.

Nearly all online casinos prohibit players from playing live casino games with bonus money.

If your game of choice is Lightning Roulette, Live Dream Catcher or Deal or No Deal Live and you loathe online slots, it might be a good idea not to take a welcome bonus.

Bonus Tip 5: check if there is a maximum withdrawal on bonus winnings

Some online casinos (usually the dodgy ones) impose a maximum payout on winnings with bonus money.

We have encountered online casinos with a withdrawal limit of 5 x or even 3 x times the initial deposit amount.

Some dodgy online casinos impose maximum withdrawals on bonus money winnings

Should you win a 5k jackpot on a deposit of $€ 50 at one of those online casinos, you are out of luck and will only be able to withdraw a fraction of that win.

If you want to avoid such a horror-scenario, always check the terms and conditions first, before you even think about making your first deposit.

Bonus Tip 6: see if you can get free spins as well- and what they’re worth

A lot of casinos also give away free spins on your first deposit – sometimes up to 200 free spins. It is, therefore, worthwhile to consider this.

Also, look at which slot machine you get the free spins on. Some spins are worth a $€ 0.10 per spin, others as much as $€ 0.50!

For example, free spins on Starburst are only worth $€0.10 per spin. If you receive 100 free spins on Starburst, their total worth is only $€ 10. Free spins on Twin Spin are worth $€0.25 per spin.

Even if you only get 50 free spins on Twin Spin as part of the welcome bonus, they would be worth more than the Starburst spins.

Many online casinos also have wagering requirements on free spin payouts, but there are also some with no wagering requirements on free spins — a huge advantage.

Bonus tip 7: pay attention to the time limits

Online casinos have time limits on casino bonuses: you must have used the bonus within the set time limit. With welcome bonuses and reload bonuses, you usually have up to 30 days. Free spin bonuses often have to be used faster: generally within 15 days.

Bonus tip 8: avoid using strategies while playing with bonus money

Don’t even think about using a roulette strategy to plough through those pesky bonus wagering requirements.

It is forbidden to use betting strategies such as the Martingale strategy or by betting both on black and red at the same time.

While most strategies have been forced out of play by the casinos by enforcing the maximum bet rule, casinos are always on the lookout for players that try to beat the systems, so-called casino bonus abusers.

Bonus tip 9: some casinos will stop you when you (unknowingly) are about to break a bonus rule

Sometimes you might be breaking a bonus rule, without even knowing it. You could be playing a slot that is on the “no bonus play allowed” list, or you could accidentally be staking too much. The results could be disastrous, as the casino now has the right to confiscate your bonus and all bonus winnings.

Some online casinos have decided to implement systems that detect when you are about to break a bonus rule. Furthermore, play will be stopped so you can choose a different game or lower your bet.

We applaud online casino that have implemented these kinds of player-friendly warning systems.

Slots Million was the first online casino to do so, and we applaud that.

Bonus top 10: try to play low variance slots with a high return to player

If you want to have the best possible chance of unlocking a casino bonus, try to play low variance slots that have a high return to player, preferable 97% or higher.

Have you ever wondered why slots like Blood Suckers and 1429 Uncharted Seas are always on the list of slots that you cannot play with bonus money? They are both low variance and have a high return to player.

That said, there are still plenty of suitable slots that you can play with bonus money out here. You just need to find them.

Grab your casino bonus

After reading these tips, you will undoubtedly be eager to unlock a casino bonus yourself at one of the many reliable online casinos that we have already tested for you.

In the overview below, you will find the best casino bonuses, good enough to satisfy even the most seasoned casino player.

20 common thinking mistakes casino players make

There are many persistent thinking mistakes made by casino players. By hanging on to this wrong way of thinking, a lot of players feel disadvantaged or see game patterns that aren’t there.

It is kind of fun to list some of these thinking errors and find out why we are so convinced of specific casino theories. By increasing your knowledge, you may be able to avoid certain pitfalls in the future.

We hope you can learn from these common mistakes and put your new-found knowledge to your advantage.

These are 20 of the biggest mistakes (online) casino players make

We have listed 20 of the biggest and most common thinking errors. How many do you recognise?

1. If the colour red hits 10 x in a row on the roulette wheel, then the wheel has clearly been tampered with.

how-to-beat-an-online-casino-2-live-roulette

Many people think that the chance of red hitting again is greater than the possibility of black hitting (the wheel is red-oriented). Others believe that the chance of black hitting at the next turn is much higher because red has hit so many times before. Both camps are wrong.

The chance of red hitting in the next turn is precisely as high as the chance of black hitting (18 out of 37, or 48.6%).

Should the wheel genuinely have a preference for a specific colour, then the test sample of 10 turns is far too small to be able to confirm or invalidate this theory.

2. You can base your play on a series of outcomes

This too is a common thinking mistake. Every outcome of a new game is independent of past results.

No matter how many times a number has hit in Roulette or how many times a particular colour has hit in a row, you can only determine afterwards whether there was a trend in the results.

3. The Confirmation Bias: events that support your theory weigh more heavily

Everyone might have experienced this. You play roulette all night, betting on your favourite number 23.

And it doesn’t hit or hardly hits. It’s enough to drive you crazy. And then (this always happens!), just when you go to the bathroom, the number 23 hits twice in a row! How is this possible?

This phenomenon is called “Confirmation Bias”, and it works like this: you give more weight to events that support your theory.

Your theory, in this case, is: “My number always hits when I am not playing”. Because you pay so much attention to “your” number, the times this happens are especially noticeable. Those hundreds of times that your number didn’t hit when you were on your break are conveniently forgotten.

4. Players with big stacks of chips in front of them have a better understanding of the game

how-can-online-casino-players-can-improve-2-stacks-of-fiches

Someone with a large pile of chips in front of them at the Blackjack table, must be very skilled in the game, right? Wrong. Maybe he’s been incredibly lucky, and he’s in a winning flow. Perhaps he’s bought a lot of chips. Only in the game of poker is this line of thinking somewhat correct. Poker is, in the long run, a skill-based game. There, the best players (usually) do have the most chips.

5. You win more often at your favourite casino, even if all the rules are the same as anywhere else

This is another type of Confirmation Bias. And yet some players swear by it: at this casino, I never lose at the Roulette table, and that is a fact. Just last week I had another big win!

However, if a casino has identical game rules, your chances of winning are also the same, regardless of where you are playing.

6. New players always win

Again: this popular train of thought is utter nonsense. New players win (and lose!) just as often as experienced players.

However, you will notice it more often when it happens, because it confirms a widespread thinking error.

Furthermore, new players tend to appreciate winning more than seasoned casino players. Like a puppy dog that feels grass beneath its paws for the first time, they will make every effort to let the whole casino know they have just won a hundred dollars.

7. The choices other Blackjack players make, affect my results.

how-can-online-casino-players-can-improve-3-blackjack-joly-men

Sometimes a player will buy a card at the Blackjack table with a 13 showing against a dealer with 16. The inevitable happens: he hits a 10, goes bust and the dealer draws a 5 that brings him to a 21. The whole table loses, and moans and groans ensue. Had the player stood, he would have made the dealer go bust and people would have been a lot happier.

Sure, this scenario happens often, and yes, it is annoying as hell when players go against basic Blackjack strategy.

But so that you know, wrong player decisions can just as well benefit you. A player may take a low card away from the dealer so the dealer will go bust. It all balances out in the long run, and the game is random and unpredictable. In the end, it doesn’t make any difference.

It is of course always nice to have a scapegoat, when things are not going well for you.

8. Card shuffling is rigged in a casino, to increase the house edge

This is not true either. A casino can lose its license if it turns out that cards are being manipulated. Besides, it would mean that there would be a lot of different people involved in the fraud (dealers, floor managers, suppliers, management), which makes it almost impossible to keep it under wraps.

And let’s face it, the casino already has a healthy house edge, so it really doesn’t need any additional help.

9. It’s smart to split a pair of 10’s at Blackjack

If you’ve got two 10’s, you’ve got 20 points in your hand, right? This gives you, the player, a leg up to win the hand.

If you split the 10’s, the chances of winning are significantly reduced. Long story short? Don’t get greedy; be happy with the 10’s you have. Stand, and look forward to doubling your money (most of the time).

10. If you use a player card, you will receive smaller (or bigger!) payouts.

how-can-online-casino-players-can-improve-4-playerscard-slot machine

Many casino players firmly believe that playing with a player card in the slot machines will result in a lower payout, especially if you won shortly before. This way, the casino can take your winnings back quickly.

Along the same line of thinking consider this widespread mistake: the first day/hours you use the card, you win a lot more, so you will lose a lot more the next day. This way of thinking is wrong.

A player card provides the casino with useful information about your playing behaviour. It allows them to come up with a tailor-made bonus based on how you play your game and to gain insight into the playing behaviour of players in general. But a player card cannot change the inner workings of a slot machine.

11. It is impossible to win real money with bonus money

Whether it’s free game credit at a Las Vegas casino or bonus money at an online casino, it’s possible to win real money with bonus money. All you have to do is abide by the bonus rules. In Las Vegas, you only need to wager free game credit once, and some slots are excluded (often progressive slots) – so it’s best to bet this money on video poker, which has a high payout rate.

At an online casino, you are bound by a maximum bet per spin, and you have to wager the bonus several times before it is released.

Also, some slots are often excluded from betting with bonus money. But if you follow these bonus rules correctly, you can unlock a casino bonus regularly. Especially if the wagering conditions are 35 x the bonus, or lower.

12. Slot machines pay out more on weekends and in the morning

The idea behind this theory is that people are in a party mood during the weekend and the casino likes to add to that.

In the mornings, the slot machines are still full of all the money that has been thrown in the night before, and that has to be paid out at some time, right?

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way.

Slot machines use a Random Number Generator, which generates random results. This RNG can’t look back, can’t look forward and can’t see how much you’ve won or lost. In other words, it is impossible to determine when a slot machine will pay out.

13. Rubbing the screen and making voodoo signs increase your chances of winning

how-can-online-casino-players-can-improve-5-Juichende-brunette-superstition

Alas, no.  Rubbing a slot screen while the reels are spinning is a useless exercise. And to be honest, it looks a tiny bit strange, as well.

The same goes for lucky dolls, rabbit feet, your lucky shirt or touching all of the buttons before you press the spin button. None of these actions has any effect. We have even seen players go as far as licking their player card, in a desperate attempt to get lucky.

14. Online casinos can change the payout rates with the touch of a button

Online casinos use software that runs on servers of third parties. In other words, they only function as a distribution channel or portal for a game service provider. They are not able to manipulate the software or the outcome of the games themselves.

An exception to this is if an online casino uses its own software to which they do have access. In the Netherlands, there was a court case where the owners of Amsterdam Casino were convicted of fraud. They were able to rig the system and made sure that big prizes were barely won, and if they were paid out at all, they always ended up with acquaintances and family members.

So make sure you only play at reliable online casinos that use respected, third-party tested software such as Netent, Thunderkick or Pragmatic Play.

15. A so-called cooler can make a “hot” table go dead

We don’t dispute the fact that coolers were used in the casinos of Las Vegas and Atlantic City in the past. A cooler is the name for a casino’s staff member who ensures that bad karma is brought to a winning table. As a result, the players who won before suddenly couldn’t catch a break.

Coolers were indeed used, but a cooler can, of course, never influence the course of a game.

16. By stopping the reels early on a slot machine, you can change the outcome

In many slot machines, you can stop the reels by quickly pressing the spin button twice.

A lot of players think that by doing so, you are mixing up the game in some way, which makes the outcome different. This is complete nonsense. After all, the result of the outcome was already determined at the very moment you pressed the play button the first time.

The rest of it is just bells and whistles. The only thing you do achieve, you significantly reduce the time between spins.

Stopping the reels manually is mainly a way to lose your money faster, and that is precisely why slots manufacturers have included this option.

17. The more paylines, the higher the chances of winning

We regularly read the following sentence on other casino portals: always play the maximum number of paylines; otherwise, a slot (machine) will pay out less.

This is a persistent thinking mistake. The payout rate of a slot (machine) does not depend on the number of paylines you play. The payout rate always remains the same.

However, some players will reduce the number of paylines and increase the bet per line to achieve a higher variance (volatility). But in the long run, a slot (machine) pays out the same, whether you play with 1 payline or 40.

18. Roulette tables have magnets to have the ball drop into specific pockets.

Other popular theories: blowing techniques, suction techniques, deceleration techniques.

Again, roulette tables are regularly calibrated and checked. The casino already has a house edge and will not easily risk its license to further increase the advantage it already has.

19. Online casinos are never to be trusted

Our experience has not been like this at all. There are undoubtedly unreliable casinos. But for every untrustworthy casino, there are at least another 40 that can be trusted. Fortunately, the time of online cowboys is far behind us.

Because it is becoming ever easier for players to find information about the reliability of an online casino via the Internet, it has also become easier to distinguish the good online casinos from the rogue ones.

20. All casino games are ultimately the same: you always lose

Although every casino game does have a house edge, there are significant differences between the various casino games. The most profitable games for the casino are slots, Bingo, Keno and the Wheel of Fortune. In these cases, the house edge can run up to (far) over 10%.

Table games pay out at much better rates, especially if you apply the right strategy in say Blackjack or Video Poker. European roulette also has a low house edge of only 2.7% and therefore a high RTP of 97.3% (100%- 2.7%).

There are several types of roulette, and some are more profitable others are not. Which to avoid? Check out our post “Three types of Roulette you should always avoid

Also, something to keep in mind, games at an online casino often have a much higher payout rate than at a land-based casino.

If you are looking for the best possible payout percentages, you are better off gambling online, rather than playing at your local land-based casino.19EN17a25

What is the ‘Hit-and-Run” casino strategy?

3-roulette-types-to-avoid-roulettebonus-625x406

In this article, we examine the popular “Hit-and-Run” casino strategy.

This strategy, whereby you play quick sessions in the casino, and you emphasise quitting while ahead, can be very effective.

We apply the Hit and Run strategy often ourselves, with success, by playing short-run sessions that increase our profitability and, effectively, minimise our total losses.

Among other things, we will explain:

  • What the Hit-and-run strategy exactly entails
  • For what type of player this strategy is best suited
  • Which games fit this strategy the best
  • What the pro and cons are of this casino strategy

What exactly does the Hit-and-run strategy entail?

The Hit-and-run casino strategy is aimed at playing short sessions in the casino, whereby you play the game, (hopefully) make a profit and then immediately stop playing.

You set your profit target before playing the game. It must be a realistic goal; there is no point in setting a €10,000 target when your gambling budget is just €50. We can all dream, but the chances of that scenario happening are slim to none.

Setting a target of 3 -5 times your initial bankroll is a lot more realistic.

The moment you reach your target, you take your winnings and stop the session – Hit and Run

When you reach your target goal, you must stop gambling and cash out.

This, at times, very effective strategy prevents that your gains are lost again by playing longer in the casino. It also ensures that all sessions, where you get on the plus side of the ledger, are ended with a profit. Sometimes it will be a small gain, sometimes a big one, but you will close out every session with a profit effectively as a winner in any case.

The Hit-and-run strategy is exceptionally well suited for play in an online casino.

Here it is possible to quickly deposit cash, grab your winnings and have it paid out to you immediately.

It gets even better when you play at an online casino like Slots Million, where you can have your payouts locked – preventing you from playing with the withdrawal, should you be tempted to play longer yet.

Las Vegas-land-based-casinos

With land-based casinos things become a little more involved, seeing that you incur travel costs and invest time. Not very many players can bring themselves to step into a casino, place a few bets, reaching their target and walk out again after 5-10 minutes.

An example of a realistic profit target using the Hit-and-run strategy is if you were to put down $€ 50 and turn that initial money into $€ 200, you stop playing. Also if you end up at $€ 0 you stop.

For what type of player is the Hit-and-run strategy best suited?

The Hit-and-run strategy can work well but is certainly not suitable for everyone.

If you like long gambling sessions, on low variance games such as Pai Gow Poker, video poker or low variance slots like Starburst, then the Hit-and-run strategy will not work, unless you play for high stakes.

The reason being that for the Hit-and-run to work, you must have a real opportunity to have a winning balance, and the chances of that happening are simply a lot better with medium or high variance games.

Besides that you also have to possess strong self-discipline – you HAVE to stop when you reach your self-imposed gains target.

Many players get greedy, play on and eventually lose it all – both the initial gain and the original starting balance. This phenomenon is called the gamblers ruin: as players do not have unlimited funds or unlimited time, there is always a point where you lose all your funds.

So the strategy is best suited for players that are content with achieving small wins and don’t have the urge to play on.

hit and run strategy

Suitable games for the Hit-and-run strategy

It is essential to choose suitable games, wherein the payouts you can win are substantial enough to have a high possibility that with one good spin you are already on the plus side of things.

So we are talking about table games where you can win at least 15 x your bet or slots where you can win at least 100 x your stake.

  • Medium to high variance slots
  • High-risk Roulette bets such as single or double bets
  • Blackjack, but only if you play stakes of at least 20% of your bankroll
  • High-risk Craps bets, such as the hard ten or the hard eight*

*We know this bet has a lower payout rate than other Craps bets, but you have to remember: this is about short term game, and with that in mind, the difference in payout rate is negligible.

Examples of high variance slots are Raging Rhino, Dead or Alive 2, Immortal Romance and the Falcon Huntress.

Pros and Cons of this strategy

The are several advantages and disadvantages that come with the Hit-and-run approach:

Advantages

  • You stop playing in time with a profit, so there is no risk to lose any winnings
  • The plan is simple: grab and go!
  • It is a strategy where your balance, in the long run, suffers fewer losses than if you were to partake in long gambling sessions.

Disadvantages

  • Not all casino games are suited for the Hit-and-run strategy
  • Land-based casinos are less suited than online casinos
  • You can’t apply this strategy when there is bonus money active that has to be wagered
  • The Hit and Run strategy only works for well-disciplined players, with clear and realistic goals

Where can you find better-paying slots?

Find-best-paying-slots-feature-picture-lady-plays-slot machine-Las-Vegas

For casino players who are not only looking for entertainment in a slot but also want to look beyond the bells and whistles, it can be very interesting to look at how well a slot pays out.

To get a good understanding of this, it is crucial to know how a slot works.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to use a strategy when playing slots to increase your chances of winning. It doesn’t matter how many lines you play, whether you use the autoplay button or how much you bet. And rubbing the screen at every spin doesn’t make much sense either, except that your cat might look a little strange at you.

Slots all work according to the same principle: they are random and, on average, pay out a little less than what is put in.

However, there is one thing that you can influence – which slot you choose to play. Although all slots work mostly the same way, they do differ in one respect: they have different payout rates. Some slots pay out significantly better than others.

A higher payout rate can make the difference between winning and losing. The difference between a nice amount in your account or going to bed with your tail between your legs.

What does the payout rate mean?

The payout percentage is also called Return to Player (or RTP). The higher the payout rate, the better it is for you, the player. There are legal provisions on how high payout rates of slots should be. In many countries, a slot machine in a cafe or an arcade has to pay a minimum of 60%. For slots in your local land-based casino, this percentage is at least 80%. Slots in Las Vegas casinos often pay between 88% and 93%.

The difference between payout rates in online and offline casinos

Please note that the 60% and 80% payout rates are a minimum. In reality, the payout rates of slots in pubs, bars and arcades are around 80% – 85% while slots in your local, land-based casino pay out around 88% – 93%.

What about payout percentages for online slots? On average, slots at an online casino payout around 96.5%. But there are even online slots that pay out 98% or even 99%. That’s a huge difference compared to slot machines in pubs, bars and land-based casinos.

Online casinos have much fewer overhead costs such as staff, rent, energy costs, security, etc. and in no small extent give these benefits back to online casino players in the form of bonuses, promotions and, you have guessed it, (much) higher payout rates. If you want to have the best chance of winning a session, you should play at an online casino.

So, if you decide to play a slot machine at an offline casino, you could argue that you are shortchanging yourself.

Have you ever wondered why it seems almost impossible to leave a land-based casino in Las Vegas or your home town with a profit? Now you know why.

Find-best-paying-slots-return-to-player-online-slots

Does a higher payout rate really make the difference?

In a word: yes. A higher payout rate results in a higher chance of winning, more playing time or a combination of both.

For example, if you play a slot with a payout rate of 85%, the slot will take $€ 15 from every $€ 100 that is wagered. The remaining $€ 85 goes back to the player.

However, if you play a slot with a payout percentage of 98%, the game will return $€ 98 of every $€ 100 played. In this case, the casino will be left with $€2.

What do you prefer? A slot where you lose $€ 15 for every $€ 100 you deposit, or a slot where you lose only $€ 2 for every $€ 100 you put in? Exactly.

Remember as well, that payout rates are calculated over hundreds of thousands, perhaps even millions of revolutions. That’s why you may win $€ 500 one day with a deposit of just a tenner, and you might lose $€ 200 the next day. A slot always shows variance in payouts. Some days it looks like you can’t lose and other days it feels like you are going nowhere fast.

In short, the payout rate of a slot is extremely important for a player and as a general rule: the higher the percentage, the better it is for you.

Find-best-paying-slots-payout-rate-online-slots

Payout rate versus the variance of a slot

Another vital factor to consider is the variance of a slot.

The higher the variance of a slot, the more risk there is in the game. High Variance slots may pay out huge prizes reaching up to tens of thousands times your total stake. While the possible rewards are high, the chances of hitting such a big win are low. These massive payouts are rare.

A low variance slot will offer you a high ratio of small and medium-sized wins. You will get plenty of entertainment for your money, but the chances of winning big are slim.

If you like the sound of getting bigger wins while taking higher risks, be sure to have a look at our top 10 high variance online slots list.

Can you trust the published payout rates?

Some people have tried to calculate the payout rates of slots themselves. However, this is very difficult. You have to take into account a lot of different things such as the number of (virtual) reels, paylines, multipliers and bonus games. Some slots are incredibly complicated, making it impossible to calculate the payout rate if you don’t have access to the software and mathematical models.

Another method is to play thousands of spins yourself and keep track of everything by hand: bets, wins and losses. A massive – and tedious – task.

That’s why most online casino players look up the payout rate in the slot rules. Almost all casino game creators include this information in the slots rules. Can’t you find the payout rate anywhere? Then we suggest you choose another slot that isn’t secretive about this essential information.

External parties regularly audit these published payout rates, and contrary to popular belief, reputable online casinos don’t lie about payout rates. There is no benefit in it for them.

In an environment where it is all about the confidence a player has in the casino, it is awful for business for an online casino to be found out that their slots are paying out less than they’re supposed to.

Players would immediately abandon that casino in large numbers.

Where can you find better-paying slots?

If you are looking for slots that pay out better than other slots, we can help you. We have put together a top 10 of slots that pay out the most. Will you win every time you play these slots? Of course not.

But do you have a (much) better chance of winning with these better-paying slots? Absolutely.

Our research shows that some of the best paying online slots are made by Netent, Scientific Games (Barcrest) and Thunderkick. These companies have released several better-paying slots with payout rates ranging between 97% and 99%.

Nextgen and iSoftbet announce they will be developing Megaways™ slots

Nextgen-iSoftbet-get-Megaways-license-news-post-medusa-megaways

Big Time Gaming has decided to give both Nextgen and iSoftbet a licence to produce Megaways slots.

Megaways-LogoThis means that these two software providers receive access to the mathematical models and the game mechanism of the popular Megaways slots.

Megaways slots are a type of unique online slots: they have different numbers of ways to win per spin and offer sometimes hundreds of thousands of possible combinations. Often there are bonus features with free spins, extra multipliers and mystery symbols.

This makes it possible to win vast amounts of money with Megaways slots: they are slots with a very high variance. Wins of 20,000 x the total bet are possible with many Megaways slots and that of course immediately explains their enormous popularity.

Up until now, there were, besides Big Time Gaming (the inventors of the Megaways slots) 4 more game providers with a Megaways licence: Relax gaming, WMS, Red Tiger Gaming and Blueprint Gaming.

And now there are two more providers added to this list, that will be allowed to completely unleash their creativity and come up with unique Megaways slots: iSoftbet and Nextgen Gaming.

Nextgen-iSoftbet-get-Megaways-license-news-post

What can we expect from the Megaways slots by iSoftbet and Nextgen Gaming?

It is going to be exciting to see what iSoftbet and Nextgen Gaming will produce with their Megaways slots. Up until now, the cooperation between Big Time gaming and other providers has delivered a lot of excellent Megaways-under-license slots: think for example of classic titles such as Temple Tumble, Primal, Battleship Direct Hit and Vikings Unleashed.

iSoftbet-logoiSoftbet is an excellent slots provider that in the past, has proven to be capable of making original slots with innovative bonus features. Although they have not been considered one of the big players in the industry, they have been showing steady growth over the years, and their slots can be played in a growing number of online casinos.

nextgen-gaming-logoNextgen Gaming is one of the biggest casino game producers in the world and is a part of Scientific Games. They have built up an extensive portfolio of (mainly) online slots with well-known titles such as Medusa, Medusa II, Foxin’ Wins and 300 Shields.

Their first Megaways slot is already known: Medusa Megaways. We are big fans of the original Medusa slot and find this to be a very logical choice for a first Megaways slot.

We have already seen Medusa Megaways in action, and it has to be said: it all looks very cool. Think of stacked wilds, free spins, unlimited multipliers and mystery wilds.

In any case, it is going to be a lot of fun to see what these established providers will do with the Megaways concept.

On April 24, 2019, Netent finally released the sequel to Dead or Alive: Dead or Alive 2.

netent-logoRarely were expectations as high as they were with Dead or Alive 2. The original has always been one of Netent’s biggest blockbusters for a long time, and the Swedish game maker has been searching for an opportunity to equal or surpass this success.

They seem to have gold in their hands with Dead or Alive 2: this slot works on all levels. Netent has really hit the sweet spot.

This slot looks stunning, has three exciting free spins features to choose from and you can win an astronomical amount of money: more than 100,000 x your bet!

Dead or Alive 2 has the following free spins bonuses:

  • Train Heist (low risk): Earn extra free spins and additional multipliers with each game.
  • Old Saloon (medium risk): This is the classic Dead or Alive bonus with free spins, sticky wilds and a 2 x multiplier.
  • High Noon Saloon (high risk): Earn sticky wilds with extra multipliers up to 4x.

Bets start at $€ 0.09 per spin, and that goes up to $€ 9 per spin. The theoretical payout rate is 96.8%.

In our Dead or Alive 2 slot review, we were delighted with this new Netent hit and rewarded the slot with a very high score of 4.5 stars out of 5.

Super Big Win on Reactoonz: 1,505 x the bet!

Reactoonz is a slot by Play’n Go that very rapidly has become one of our all-time favourites.

play-n-go-logoAnd it is not just us: Reactoonz is, despite a somewhat steep learning curve, one of Play ‘n GO’s most popular slots.

This is all because of the excellent potential and the unique, suspense building features of Reactoonz. Payouts of several thousand times your total bet occur frequently, and the fun thing is: they are built up step by step. High variance slots have become the most played slots in the past years and Reactoonz is easily one of the best.

This creates an enormous amount of tense excitement, that will entice you to play on time and again.

In this slot, your play frees up bonus boosters that help you to create (large) payouts. And sometimes you succeed in freeing up the gigantic Gargantoon; a 3 x 3 wild that especially in combination with the multipliers and the high-value symbols can deliver simply, well…  gargantuan payouts.

So, we play Reactoonz on a very regular basis and are quite often successful in obtaining handsome rewards.

Super Big Win on Reactoonz: 1,505 x the bet!

We managed to grab this fantastic payout with the Reactoonz game, which surely is one of the best slots by Play ‘n GO.

Play ‘n GO is well known for the innovative slots they bring to market, full of unique game mechanisms and bonus features.

Slots such as Moon princess, Book of Dead, Viking Runecraft, Gemix and Reactoonz are very popular indeed.

Save up extra bonus boosters by creating winning combinations

The aim of Reactoonz is to make clusters of the same symbols. There are also wilds and multipliers active. The larger the cluster and the more value the symbol has, the bigger the payout will be.

There are also extra boosters that you can earn in the meantime to fill up the gauge that is on the top right-hand side of your screen completely.

When you succeed in this endeavour, you won yourself the notorious Gargantoon feature: this will give you 3 rounds with extra wilds added to the screen, starting with the mega wild of 3 x 3.

The end result for us, after getting the Gargantoon feature, was a total win of $€ 1,204.32. With a bet of $€ 0.80 per spin, this amounts to 1,505 x the total bet.

Winner, winner, Chicken dinner!
