Lost Vegas was released in October 2016 by Microgaming and has a somewhat far-fetched Zombies / Las Vegas theme that actually works really, really well.
Forget the obnoxious rich South Cal club kids that flock to the Strip during the weekends; in Lost Vegas, the city has been overtaken by hordes of zombies. All that is left of the town are some abandoned casinos and a small group of brave, but heavily outnumbered survivors.
Lost Vegas is a 5 reel, 243 way to win Microgaming slot that offers player medium variance, an RTP of 95% – 96% and a maximum win of $97,000 per spin.
Besides the potential of huge wins, the Lost Vegas slot also offers some very fun and exciting bonus features.
Lost Vegas: gameplay and bonus features
Before you start to play Lost Vegas, there is one important choice you need to make. You can choose to play as a zombie, or you can play as a survivor.
Although your choice will not influence the results in any way, it is a nice touch. The symbols, background images and bonus features change based on your choice, so you can always switch to another side should you need some variation.
Zombies mode: all high paying symbols are zombies – Las Vegas visitors that have been bitten and infected by zombies. The best-paying symbol is the Elvis (who else?) zombie. 5 Elvis symbols will pay out $5 on the minimum stake of $0.30 per spin. There are four more high paying zombie symbols. In true Microgaming style, all other symbols consist of card symbols.
Survivor mode: all high paying Survivor mode symbols consist of our brave group of survivors, complete with guns, golf clubs and baseball bats. Anything to get rid of those pesky zombies. The payouts of the symbols are the same as in the Zombies mode.
The Wild “Lost Vegas” symbol substitutes all symbols except the scatter symbol.
Lost Vegas bonus features
There are four different bonus features to be won in the Lost Vegas slot:
The Zombie Fist of Cash will appear at random after a losing spin during the base game, both in the Zombie and the Survivor mode. A zombie hand will appear and award a cash prize. The higher the original bet, the higher the cash prize.
The Blackout bonus can be exciting as well and can randomly appear in both the Zombie as well as in the Survivor mode. During the Blackout bonus, all lights will turn off, and all the high paying symbols will stay lit. Every high paying symbol will give you a random cash prize.
Three or more scatter symbols activate the free spins bonus:
In the Zombie mode, you will get the Infection Bonus. Full sets of high paying symbols activate stacked wild symbols. Activate all wild symbols, and the bonus ends. This bonus can pay out huge amounts – just hope and pray that you don’t activate all the symbols too soon.
In the Stash Feature (Survivor mode) all high paying symbols have been replaced by cash awards. As soon as you have collected all the cash amounts, the bonus ends.
Lost Vegas: our verdict
Lost Vegas is a superb slot by Microgaming with lots of great little touches and some pretty exciting bonus features. We love the fact that you can choose from two different modes. Both modes change the gameplay of the primary bonus features.
The bonus features can pay out well too, and not just the main bonus features. We have had quite a few session-saving wins in the Zombie Fist of Cash bonus.
Graphically, Lost Vegas is very polished, and the production values are high as well. All in all, Lost Vegas is one of Microgaming’s best releases of the past years.
Two thumbs up!
